TRUMP'S HIGHEST CRIMES

Trump has been impeached by the House of Representatives and the Senate's procedures of impeachment are being formulated for the trial. The grounds for impeachment are very narrow for the first article and concerns his involvement with the Ukraine and the son of Joe Biden, Hunter Biden. The second article is also very narrow. It is focused on Trump obstructing evidence and testimony.

While these are serious actions, Trump's highest crimes are crimes against humanity and nature. Ralph Nader made a comment he should be impeached for more than just two actions. He does have a very good point there. Trump certainly has been involved in many immoral, criminal and unconstitutional activities.

Trump has groped numerous women over his life span. He even groped a woman when his own pregnant wife was in the next room. Going back even further in time, he was involved with a rape of an underage girl. The men he had friendships were involved in such activity and he decided he was entitled to engage in the same behavior which most of us would find abhorrent.

Trump rented properties over the years to a number of people, like his father, Fred Trump. The son is very much like the father because both of them were fined for refusing to rent to minorities. The famous folk singer, Woody Guthrie, chose a different land lord when he discovered Trump's father was involved in such behavior. He publicly published a letter he wrote to Trump's father about the situation, so that the public would know about his immoral behavior. Trump's father was a member of the Klu Klux Klan (KKK) and was arrested in 1926 for altercations with the police at a KKK Rally. Trump has made unacceptable racist statements about members of Congress and other individuals that show a pattern of this kind of behavior is not just limited to rental of properties.

Trump is not following international asylum law. He requires refugees to stay in their country of origin while a judge decides their case. In Mexico these individuals have been kidnapped by cartels and only released when their family pays ransom money according to National Public Radio. Trump is actually causing more criminal activity by his asylum procedures. Some individuals have to travel hundreds of miles to show up in court. Many can't afford the costs of travel. Under international asylum law, these individuals are allowed to stay with family or friends in the United States while their case is being decided by a local judge.

Another crime he has committed is locking up women and children in cages and detaining immigrants in very bad conditions in these cages. They have inadequate food and health care. The lack of basic sanitation is very troubling and immoral. A democratic country should not be holding women and children in cages for merely being immigrants. This totally unacceptable and is unconstitutional. Trump also took military funding without Congressional approval for a Wall between the United States and Mexico. He was sued by several parties and a judge stopped the wall's funding for now.

He has rolled back basic environmental standards when global warming is happening all over the world. He refuses to sign the Paris Agreement on Climate Change. He puts economics as his only standard goal in considering environmental standards. He favors fossil fuel companies. The wild fires and extreme floods in Australia should be a warning to us all that we need to have better standards. The United States is the number one polluter in the world and needs to lead the way on this issue. He is making it worse, not better for the whole planet.

Trump is cutting food stamps, Social Security, SSI and Meals on Wheels. Food stamp recipients 18 to 49 will be required to work to receive food stamps except in areas of high unemployment. Job training or 20 hours of work will be required of those who are not working. As any one knows that has been unemployed, it is difficult to do 20 hours of volunteer work when looking for work at the same time. It takes away time from work search activities. When you have a means test, such as is required by Trump, it costs way more than just giving food stamps to individuals. In Wisconsin Human Services had to contract with a private company because they could not do what was required by the state. It cost three times as much as just providing food stamps to individuals. Case workers lost documents or did not turn them in. Employers did not provide accurate information. As a food stamp recipient, I have experienced employers providing inaccurate information a number of time to Human Services. Instead public transit should be more adequately funded. Lack of transportation is one of the major reasons for unemployment. Many suburban companies are not on bus lines. Hennepin County in Minnesota would have to hire 30 more case workers to meet the requirements for Trump's program. The county or state would not be able to fund this. The federal government would have to fund this. This is why many of states Attorney Generals will likely be suing Trump over this whole situation.

It is cruel to stop providing basic food and nutrition to people. As a country we need to do a better job of providing housing, transit, health care and food to all. We are a rich country and yet the European countries have lower poverty rates because their social safety nets are way better than the social safety net in this country. Corporations need to pay taxes like the rest of us. Amazon and some other large corporations did not pay taxes last year. This is unacceptable. Some of their employees are receiving food stamps because they are not paying adequate wages to their employees. Trump's corporate tax cuts is allowing these corporations not to pay their fair share of tax which could help fund social programs.

Cutting Social Security, SSI and Meals on Wheels is cruel and unacceptable behavior. Our elders need more, not less services provided in their retirement years. Those with disabilities need basics. It is often difficult to work when you have a disability. Trump's immoral behavior is unacceptable. Congress most likely would never approve such actions. If anything we need a better health care system which funds long term and nursing home care. Medicare for All as proposed by Rep. Pramilla Jayapal of Washington would cover these services. Many family members end up paying paying medical bills for such care. It is a burden to them and our society. Those with more wealth should share it with those with less to provide a more fair distribution of wealth and a more just and moral society.

Trump also is spending too much money at Margo Largo for golf trips. This is a conflict of interest. He should go elsewhere and Congress should put a limit on such trips. Various news sources estimate that he has more than 2,000 conflicts of interests between his business activities and government events. Some of those cases are being decided in the courts. This is why Trump has to provide his tax statement in these cases and in the impeachment process. The courts have decided that he should provide his tax statement.

You have a sacred duty to vote in the primary for better candidates who uphold the Constitution and have some basic moral values. Vote in the general election to make sure our government is upholding the Constitution and providing basics to its citizens. Trump has got to go!
