Guru Purnima celebrates the guru or spiritual teacher. Guru Purnima happens once a year, usually in July, on the full moon. This year it is celebrated on July 16th in the West. The Hindu calendar is a lunar calendar, so phases of the moon are important to the life of the devotee. Great things happen in Hinduism on the full or half moon night. Radha, the consort of Krishna, appeared on a half moon night.
On this very auspicious occasion, I honor my own guru, Pandit Munelal Maharaj, with a home puja ceremony. I do remember how he came to me in a dream, which lasted two hours, while he gave me a discourse on Hindiusm. I asked him questions and he answered them. Then I asked some more questions. We went back and forth in a dialogue. Finally he took me to a beautiful, green lush paradise land where he lived. He showed me the dock, water and house where he lived with his wife and children. Now he lives in Florida while his eldest daughter attends college. A year after the dream he released a video on Earth Day with scenes just like my dream. It was of his beautiful homeland, Trinidad.
Every year I write about other gurus who are female just to let you know gurus come in all genders. Gurus are found everywhere. Even animals can be a gurus in your life. Plants and trees can also be great gurus. Krishna called trees "great sentient beings" and delivered a great discourse in Vrindavan on what they gave to humanity, plants, animals and all creation. My own life purpose is connected with teaching others about the environment and Mother Earth.
This year I want to introduce to you a very fascinating female guru, Ma Nithya Swaroopapriyananda, who was formerly known as Sudevi to her 40,000 You Tube followers. She is a Canadian ordained monk, animal rights and Acturian spiritual warrior. She developed her own channel in 2010. Her initial program was: "Free Yourself from the International Conspiracy Against Enlightenment, an Essential 10 Step Program." The channel has various topics like: Hinduism, mysticism, vegetarianism, enlightenment and extraterrestrials. She says her origin was extraterrestrial near a star called Arcturus. She has a guru, Sri Paramahamsa Nithyananda. Besides starting the channel, she writes books, is a professional tarot reader, jewelry designer and spiritual teacher. She travels to Europe and throughout Canada on a regular basis presenting discourses and teaching workshops and classes. In 2015 she became an ordained monk in the Nithyananda Ashram. She hosted a TV show called "Living Advaita" while she lived in the ashram. She can even help you start your own You Tube channel. Currently she lives in Canada and directs the Calgary Sangha.
Her discourse on Kunti and Gandhari is very interesting and down-to-earth. She describes each of these women's lives and what they did to overcome challenges in their lives. Both were matriarchs in their families and were friends, despite being on opposite sides of the Kurushetra War. Her comments are very insightful: " Kunti's sacrifice was that of her son's love for the sake of his own higher well being; she was complete within herself whether he reciprocated with love or anger. Gandhari's sacrifice came from a desire for her husband's approval and affection, to prove herself, and thus went off balance; it was a sacrifice out of deep insecurity."
She talks about her extraterrestrial origin from the golden orange star called Arcturus. It is very interesting that Edgar Cayce, the famous psychic, mentioned this star over 30 times in his readings. Cayce says it is a "stargate" to other regions of the Universe and realms of consciousness. He also states that we have elements of the stars encased on our bodies: "The body celestial, or cosmic body, has those attributes of the physical with cosmic added to same. (Cayce Readings 900-348).
There is actually a lot of evidence which shows these alien worlds and spacecraft exist. Four American astronauts, military pilots and commercial pilots have talked about their existence in the media and at conferences. Military personnel have shot down their spacecraft and found electromagnetic technologies which are pollution free. Frank Joseph in this book, "UFO's and the Military," states that he researched his book from the actual websites of the American and Russian military . On these sites they describe encounters with these alien spacecraft.
Native Americans often call these beings Star Ancestors or Star Nations. They believe their ancestors came from the stars. The Hopi and Zuni kuchina dolls are actually exact models of space beings whom they believe were their ancestors. They certainly do not deny their existence and are comfortable with these space beings if they have encounters with them.
In Hinduism there are nine higher planets where some souls reside after death. There are actually seven higher planes or lokas. They are in different dimensions. Bhuloka is planet Earth. This the realm of birth, death and karma. It is the only plane where karma exists. Bhuvarloka is the astral plane, which is between the earth and the sun. Great sages, rishis and rishikas and teachers live in this plane. I do believe this was the plane where I experienced my dream from my guru. Some people say that the dream plane is the astral world. Pritiloka or Chandraloka is the moon region. Your ancestors exist in this plane. Swarloka is heaven, located near the sun extending to the North Star, Polaris. It's the plane of enjoyment after death where the senses are fulfilled. In the Hindu tradition heaven is a short term realm for Moksha, the highest realm of existence with the Divine, is the greatest goal of a Hindu. Maharloka, Janaloka and Tapaloka are the next higher planes. They are for those who have obtained a higher awareness of their divinity. Satyaloka, the highest plane, is the final realm of existence where Divinity dwells in its highest form. It is also called Brahmaloka , Vaikuntha aor Vishnuloka or Kailaasha or Shivaloka. This is where moksha exists and is the plane of liberation. A devotee can choose to return to the Earth to serve humanity if they have achieved moksha. Some great sages and great ones have returned to serve humanity from time to time.
As you can see we are eternal beings who have existed on many planes, planets and realms of existence. We are eternal beings. On Guru Purima I honor all those great souls who have taken the role of teacher. I remember my first guru, my own mother. We are always learning about new possibilities and a great guru will help us be inspired to live out those possibilities. The greatest guru is the one who creates the most masters, not the most disciples.
JAI SHRI MA! JAI SHRI SERVICE! JAI SHRI GURU!
